CLASSICS FROM THE COLLECTION OF A COUNTRY GENTLEMAN

Theodore Bruce Auctions, Australia’s oldest auction house established in 1878, is pleased to announce its forthcoming sale of classic cars. Following its October 2015 sale in Melbourne, the most successful classic car auction ever held outside of Europe and the USA, Theodore Bruce will be conducting its next classic car sale on Sunday March 20th 2016.

Headlining the auction, from the private collection of a country gentleman, will be three beautiful Rolls-Royce motor cars. The most significant of these is the 1936 Rolls-Royce 25-30 HP, chassis number GGM10, engine number A25D. Arguably one of the most elegant Rolls-Royce motor cars in Australia, GGM10 is fitted with an aluminium Sportsman’s Saloon body (number 4339) by H.J. Mulliner, off test in October 1936. A multi-award winning concourse d’elegance motor car, including finishing second overall at the prestigious 10.10.10 held in Sydney in 2010, the first owner of GGM10 was the celebrated portrait and historical painter F.O. (Frank) Salisbury, dubbed a ‘Neo-Pre-Raphaelite’ and ‘Britain’s Painter Laureate’ who made a fortune on both sides of the Atlantic. His outstanding Rolls-Royce is finished in Royal Blue with grey leather interior and its fitted tool compartment housed in the boot contains a complete set of the optional touring tools. The car which came to Australia in 1962 comes with its original driver’s owners manual.

Joining GGM10 will be two other ‘Rollers’; a marvellous and highly original two-owner metallic grey 1957 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud I along with a desirable 1969 Rolls-Royce Mulliner Park-Ward Special convertible. Other motor cars in the sale will include a most rare right hand drive 1940 Packard Convertible, a superb 1933 Reo Flying Cloud 2-door coupé, a wonderfully well preserved 1924 Standard Tourer, 1913 Model T Ford and a very pretty 1969 Rover 2000 sedan.

Also included in the auction from this incredible collection will be three early horse-drawn carriages including an 1890 Surry with a fringe on top, along with various interesting items such as the 1950 Dutch Eysink Renata Tandem autocycle. Completing the sale will be a collection of rare and interesting motoring memorabilia much pertaining to Bentley and Rolls-Royce, items from the late Kate Goddard Estate, wife of the former owner of Le Mans winning Jaguar D-Type OKV1, and a bonnet from a Mercedes racing car reputedly driven by the German ace Rudolf Carraciola.

Viewing of the motor vehicles will take place in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales the weekend of 12th & 13th of March, prior to the auction in the Theodore Bruce sale rooms in Sydney on March 20th.
