CLASSIC CARS, MOTORING MEMORABILIA & POPULAR CULTURE COLLECTABLES

Sunday March 30th in the Theodore Bruce salerooms promises one of the most interesting day of auctions ever. Starting at 11am the proceedings commence with an incredible array of automotive memorabilia. The first 50 lots come from the world famous collection of Mr Peter Briggs of Western Australia, featuring some very rare early car brochures in pristine condition and rare Porsche posters.

The Briggs collection is followed by the wonderful collection of the late Mr Graham Howard who passed away 12 months ago. Graham was a well known motorsport journalist and author renowned for his rigorous attention to detail. He wrote the highly acclaimed biography of Lex Davison and was the first journalist to interview a callow Peter Brock in 1968. He wrote for Auto Action magazine for many years. The Howard collection is most interesting and in marvelous condition with many rare signed books and correspondence from notables such as Enzo Ferrari.

The motoring memorabilia sale is concluded by a further 85 lots of general interest including items from the estate of Rodney Roberts, Paul Samuels and others before the car sale gets underway. This small selection of fine vehicles has British sporting cars to fore, including a very rare 1954 Swallow Doretti, superb Jaguar XK150, Alvis TD21, 1963 Bentley S3 Continental 2-door Saloon, a pretty MGB Roadster and the important 1936 Railton Special Sports Drophead Coupe.

Then at 2pm the auction of the Tim Fredman Collection of Important 20th and 21st Century Popular Culture will take place featuring a fascinating array of rare memorabilia. The many items are all highly collectable and if undoubted international importance and come with excellent provenance. Highlights include items from Ayrton Senna, Michael Jackson, Ian Fleming, Margaret Thatcher, Sean Connery, Raquel Welch, Ursula Andress inter alia. The Fredman collection will be sold in aid of the Hush Music Foundation (hush.org.au) an copies of the latest Hush CD will be available both at the viewing in Melbourne on Sunday 23rd March at Higinbotham Hall, Brighton and at the Sydney Sale on March 30th and at the Sydney preview days on March 28th and 29th.
