Theodore Bruce is pleased to offer a diverse selection of fine Australian, Oceanic and Asian tribal art in our forthcoming June 9 sale.

Sourced from a range of vendors, including the Andrew Korda and Susan Pearson Collection, this auction features many significant and rare artworks including Lot 9204, a late nineteenth century Vayola Massim War Shield, Trobriand Islands; Lot 9206, an early House Post Fragment, Lake Sentani, West Papua and Lot 9205, a Pair of early to mid-twentieth century ceremonial Masks, Mortlock Island, PNG. There is also a particularly fine selection of New Guinea highlands shields for sale.

Tribal Art from a range of areas is offered in this auction, including from the Baliem Valley and Lake Sentani in West Papua; the Sepik River, highlands regions and Trobriand Islands in Papua New Guinea; Arnhem Land and Bathurst Island in Australia; North Sumatra, West Timor and Borneo in Indonesia, as well as examples from other Pacific Islands, Asia and Africa. Lots include: fighting shields; ancestral masks and figures; traditional jewellery; ritual pottery, and Aboriginal sculpture.
