Description:

A Fine and Rare Lunet Friction Drum, New Ireland, Papua New Guinea,
played by stroking the palms of one's hands over the three tines to make a unique sound as part of traditional ceremony. With profusely incised design. This lunet drum comes with a letter, dated 1999, from the PNG National Museum & Art Gallery allowing export of the drum but noting it is the last lunet which will be allowed to be exported from PNG due to the rarity of these items.
