Monty Wedd was an author, animator and one of Australia’s foremost authorities on pre-federation military history. He wrote and illustrated the definitive reference book, Australian Military Uniforms 1800 -1982, as well as founding and curating the Monarch Museum (originally located at Dee Why) in 1960. He was a Fellow and founding member of the Australian Institute of History and Arts.
