Seven early Australian jewellery pieces from the private collection of Professor GWK (Ken) Cavill will be offered for sale in Theodore Bruce’s Emporium auction on 31st July.

This small but important collection includes;

A gold nugget brooch, an 18ct yellow gold Foliate & Swallow “Forget me not” brooch attributed to Edward Schafer,
A 15ct yellow gold Quartz Gold Nugget bar brooch by Edward Schafer as well as
Two brooches with Melbourne mint Sovereigns.
A 9ct yellow gold signet ring by Rodd and
An Australian Commonwealth Military Forces 9ct gold locket hallmarked Chester 1916.
Professor GWK (Ken) Cavill is a well-known academic from the University of NSW, an avid collector and researcher of Australian silver and jewellery. Ken’s book “Australian Jewellers: Gold & Silversmiths, Makers & Marks, 1992” written with Graham Cocks & Jack Grace is one of Australia’s foremost reference books on early Australian jewellery, with quite a few pieces up for auction appearing within the book.

This is a wonderful opportunity to acquire an early piece of Australia’s history with jewellery like this rarely coming up for auction.
