SPRING HAS SPRUNG – THE THEODORE BRUCE SPRING AUCTION
The Theodore Bruce Spring Art, Silver and Collectables Auction will be held Sunday 27 September at St Peters Town Hall, 101 Payneham Road, St Peters @ 12noon.
The auction will be held in two parts: Decorative Arts including sterling silver, porcelain, jewellery and collectables, followed by Australian and International paintings and works on paper.
The art on offer comes principally from two corporate collections and includes large scale works by artists such as Kenneth Jack, Pro Hart, Keren Seelander, Marnie Wark, Jasper Knight, Hal Barton, Alison Parsons, David Dridan, Ruth Tuck, Hans Heysen, Nora Heysen and Francis Roy Thompson.
The majority of paintings on offer fall within a price range of $1,000 – $5,000.
Of particular interest to the collector are oil paintings by Nora Heysen (estimate $20,000 – $25,000), a watercolour by Sir Hans Heysen, an exquisite oil painting by Francis Roy Thompson of the Port Willunga Coastline (estimate $2,000 – S3,000), a landscape by James Cant and number of prints and works on paper by artists as diverse as Salvador Dali, Henri Matisse and Paul Cezanne.
