THE ATHOL & DAWN ROSENGREEN COLLECTION OF VINTAGE AND BAKELITE RADIOS AND MECHANICAL MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS

A collector of Bakelite/timber radios for over thirty years.

Athol was a long standing member of the Historical Radio Society of Australia.  He was an active participant of the radio club in Bathurst and surrounding Western areas from their very beginnings.

Athol had a passion for the old times of the past with a special interest in antique Bakelite/timber radios also Gramophones.

He bought his first Edison standard phonograph in the late seventies as a birthday present for his wife Dawn and that was the beginning of his journey into the world of collectors.

He enjoyed a diversity of music from Mozart to Roger Miller, he often played the old 78 records and his vinyls on his lovely old record player, many times spend listening to the Edision Horn models, which were rather special moments.

Athol was a lover of Poetry, Henry Lawson and Banjo Patterson, Robert Service and Shakespeare.  He had a great knowledge of the history of the radio, he read everything there was to read.  He would be seen a most swap meets around the district coming home with old tools and gadgets.

Athol started his career as an electrician then obtained a degree in electrical engineering.  The electrical side fitted in with the workings of the old radios, much to do behind the cabinets to keep the hands and mind absorbed.

The future buyers will be the next keepers of Radio history, long may it continue on for many generations.

Athol was a respected and well known Real Estate Agent in Bathurst for thirty six years.
