A Finely Carved and Painted Abelam Hornbill Carving, Abelam Area, Prince Alexander Mountains, East Sepik Province, Papua New Guinea, Together with a Fine Old Yangoru Wood Head,
Hornbill birds are an important totemic animal for the Abelam people and many of the Sepik cultures. They are often placed on the front facade of the monumental Abelam Ceremonial Houses. Mid-20th Century.
