A Polychrome Skull Rack, Sepik River, Papua New Guinea,
one side being male and the other female. Traditionally skulls of enemies killed in combat would have been displayed hanging on cane bindings to spikes at base.

condition: Cracks at the top and middle.

    The Jutta Malnic Collection. Jutta was a well respected photo-journalist and author whose work in anthropology was widely recognised throughout the Pacific. She made many trips to the Pacific, particularly the Trobriand Islands, researching her book "Kula" and collecting artefacts.
