A Rare & Very Large Nepalese Bronze Alloy Vessel & Ladle, Used for Oil or Holy Water with a Serpent Handle, Decorated with Multiple Motifs & Symbols, 20th C.,
The Ganesha is seated in front of a Bodhisattva holding a trishula, divine trident & under a seven headed serpent above the bath, flanked by long tailed animals, & raised on a double lotus well.
Note:
This vessel would cross over both Hindu & Buddhist religion. The Nepali metal craftsmen & sculptors are considered some of the best in the world & the proud legacy is usually passed on to generations of the family.
