Head could have been made by Robert Brodie & Son, Anstruther, Scotland, Tom Morris stamped on head "autograph" series. C.1925. "Old Tom" Morris was and still is probably the greatest of all St Andrews historical figures. He is the only one of the great golfing families to have a biography written on him. There is not much written on his club making business. Tom Morris won the Championship Belt in 1861, '62, '64 and '67 when he was already aged forty. His son, Tom Morris Jnr, won it outright by winning three times in succession in 1868, '69 & '70. "Old Tom" set up his club making business in 1867 at 8 The Links, St Andrews and it is the oldest golf shop in the world. Head "Tom Morris St Andrews" stamped on it. Brass soleplate, good leading edge & lead. Shaft Hickory. Grip possibly original.
