Camouflage New Guinea WW11,
Collection of original photographs in album belonging to Lieutenant John Digby Fowell (b.1920), Lt Fowell enlisted in July 1942 and was discharged April 1945, at the time of his discharge he was serving with the R.A.E (C'FLAGE) HQ 2 AUST COY. Approximately 100 photographs each identified on verso with either typed label or handwritten note, places include Goaling River, Langemak Bay, Uligan Harbour, Alexishafen, Cape Gloucester, Nambariwa etc, most dated 1943/44, many aerial photographs, most loose, a number glued into Military Forces Record book labelled 'Lieut John D.Fowell Personal'. Camouflage during WW11 was a a subject that celebrated the contribution of Australian artists and designers to the war. Amongst the artists that spent time on Goodenough Island in New Guinea in 1943 were Max Dupain, Robert Emerson Curtis and Clement Seale.
