  • Provenance:
    The McAllister Collection. Gillian and Watson McAllister moved to Australia from Scotland in 1973 and fell in love with Aboriginal culture after working at a boarding school in Darwin looking after almost 200 indigenous students for nearly 10 years. They built a collection of art and artefacts including many which were gifted to them from the families of students in their care. They also visited many communities all over the Northern Territory - the Tiwi Islands, Arnhem Land (Oenpelli, Maningrida, Bulman, Beswick, Barunga, Borroloola) and around Alice Springs - Yuendumu, Willowra, Amoonguna.
