this is a classical Nogwi Figure, the figure has great movement with the arms swept back and head tilted, the figure is finely painted as if it was collected after just being used in a Nogwi Ceremony Nogwi is one of the three important Yam Harvest & Fertility Ceremonies in Kwoma Culture. Mid-20th Century.
