    "Bought watercolour by Gerard Dillon

    Diary entry from Liverpool, 1 April 1955:
    "[A relative] showed me round Dublin and to a mannequin parade. She is interested in art and we went to a dealer called Victor Waddington and saw the most contemporary Irish work and it was most exciting and well into international standard. Apparently towards the end of last year the Felton bequest had bought one for Melbourne Gallery."

    Mentioned visit to Victor Waddington Gallery in 1955 prior to leaving for London, in letter dated Liverpool, 1 April 1955 'She is interested in art & we went to a dealer called Victor Waddington & saw the most contemporary Irish work & it was mos exciting & well into international stancard. Apparently, towards end of last year the Felton bequest had bought some for Melbourne Gallery.'
