James Green (1864-1948) was a Methodist clergyman and military chaplain, he was appointed chaplain colonel with the 1st Battalion A.I.F in 1914. Having spent much time at the front he was invalided home in 1917. He spent much of 1918 establishing the Church's War Memorial Hospital at Waverley. This volume is one of two books that he published recounting his experiences at the front
