  • Provenance: Commercial and watercolour artist, was born in Goulburn, NSW, the youngest daughter of Joseph John Henry Albury and Julia Spicer. Her aunt was Louisa Lawson, mother of Henry Lawson. The Albury family moved from Goulburn to Hornsby c.1911 and Winn studied art at Sydney Technical College. She travelled to the USA in 1928 with her sister Ethel where she worked as a commercial artist & interior designer in Sacramento, California. After returning to Sydney in 1930 she worked as a commercial artist for several department stores including Bebarfalds, Grace Bros and Anthony Hordern & Sons. During the 1950s She was responsible for the Christmas display windows for Anthony Hordern & Sons and Grace Bros. In later years she painted portraits on commission.

    A collection of Winn Albury's designs, mostly for lampshades, arrived at Historic Houses Trust (NSW) in 1998 with the part of the Lorenzini archive that had been auctioned in 1995 as part of her deceased estate. Watercolours by both Winn and her sister Ethel were included, along with a large volume of material by Augusto Lorenzini (1852-1921).

Collection of goods must be within five (5) working days of sale via 118-120 Parramatta Road Stanmore, NSW 2048, please note parking is only available on Parramatta Road between 10am & 3pm. Storage fees apply after five (5) working days.

No Collections or deliveries can be made via the rear lane.
