IDRIESS, Ion, I, The Yellow Joss, 1st Edition,
Sydney, Angus & Robertson Limited, 1934, b/w plates, yellow cloth soiled, Copy belonged to George G.Jefferis (1895-1971), bookplate on fly leaf + two watercolour illustrations by Jefferis of 'Butterfly Cod' + 'The Devil Fish' with ink notes. Jefferis migrated to Australia in 1925, he commenced work at the Printers' Quarters in Kingston in 1926 and later worked at the Hotel Canberra from the late 1920s. During his time in Canberra, Jefferis traversed the Territory and compiled a description of his travels in unpublished manuscripts held by the Canberra & District Historical Society. He was a member of the Artists Society and his manuscripts include drawings and paintings of scenes, flora and fauna.
