Walking Over Sand Hills - Marawa 2001
Acrylic on Belgian linen (unstretched)
This painting was purchased directly from Linda Syddick at Kintore Aboriginal Community, Northern Territory. The painting depicts two (three?) spiritual Emu men who traveled from Walangura (Kintore) in the Northern Territory to Lake McKay in Western Australia. The brown lines depict the journey lines and the 'U' shapes around the concentric circles represent a water soakage where the Emu men met with others and talked. This place is called Marawa, deep inside Pintupi homelands.
